Hi All,
I am new to this forum. I have a 3 yr old house and have recently started hearing cracking and popping noises from roof and wall of my house. There are no cracks internally or externally in the house. Should I be worried about this?

The roofing material expands and contracts with temperature, and that's likely what is causing the popping and cracking sounds. Ours does it all the time. There is plenty of flexibility up there and I don’t think you have anything to worry about. Cracking and popping noises in roof and walls 4Oct 01, 2020 1:14 pm Easy007 Sorry I should’ve mentioned it but mine is a cement tiles roof. I've never owned a new house with a tile roof so can’t say for sure, but it is possible it’s the same thing. Even more flexibility with tile roofs as the tiles generally aren’t tightly fixed to each other. Perhaps someone with a new tile roof can comment more definitively than me. Perhaps try and note if the sounds get worse as the sun shines directly on the roof. I notice it most on partly cloudy days, as the sun comes in an out of the shade of the clouds. I also noticed today the noise are coming both from roof and aluminium windows and more prominent during mornings and evenings. Does it fit more into the criteria of thermal expansion? Agree, and the frequency is high too. I put lots of efforts to identify the trusses, loose water pipes etc which could be the main culprits, even put cctv cameras around the ceiling but no success. Ain't that the truth! We used to have a tile roof and had it replaced with colorbond and suddenly everything throughout the entire house sounds louder! 4 6644 Hi, I have a steel frame house which was built 2 years ago.
