Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Aug 29, 2020 10:05 pm if any of forum experts can please advise, we want to insulate 1 side wall (facing road) of 1 bedroom only,on the second floor. it is a brick veneer 2 story townhouse built in the 1980's. due to budget, and it cant wait (to pay for whole house walls to be insulated), light sleeper in this room. do the side wall walls and floor of this bedroom upstairs usually extend through the wall cavity to the brick, so that we only have to pay for the 1 bedroom wall to be insulated? or will we have to insulate the whole side of the house upstairs and downstairs? ie the insulation can not be contained within the space of the 1 bedroom that we want, the insulation will spread out through the whole side wall. thank you for any advice Re: getting wall insulation 2 storey townhouse 2Aug 29, 2020 10:23 pm Is it for road noise? The cavity is continuous and can’t just be filled. Insulation sits in the timber wall frame hence the gyprock all needs to come off. Easiest is to look at the window. A perspex glazing sheet screwed to the architrave makes a huge difference. Like double glazing with a large cavity. If the gyprock comes off then heaps of options but the window still needs to be fixed. cheers Pulse Building Standards; Getting It Right!
