If they wish to remove the rubbish themselves, the fee will be reduced to $10,000 all up and no complaint will be made to the authorities Two can play at their game. Re: Advice on neighbours 23Dec 04, 2008 8:45 am By the way, if you want to know about bad neighbours, my neighbours behind me pinched about $150 in pavers off my pallet, chipping some of the others.
My landscaper had been wondering why he was missing some of the biggest pavers (I have one of those ashlar pattern pavers with different sizes) and then when climbing up on the fence while doing a final clean discovered 5 of the pavers used as stepping stones next door. They're 500 x 500, only available from Eco Concepts, quite expensive and exactly the same colour and size as the ones missing from my job. It didn't matter to me in the end but the landscaper is ropable and is going to demand to see a receipt from them. Re: Advice on neighbours 24Dec 04, 2008 9:06 am What a yuck situation sammy. Good for you for standing your ground, I can't believe the nerve of people like this landscaper!
You could always be like that guy who tried to pay a bill with a drawing of a spider (perhaps a flower would be better for you though) Re: Advice on neighbours 25Dec 04, 2008 10:26 am jamiet By the way, if you want to know about bad neighbours, my neighbours behind me pinched about $150 in pavers off my pallet, chipping some of the others. Watch when they go out, go over there and retrieve them and see their expression when they return. I doubt they would come around to demand their stolen pavers back. For a real laugh, you could then invite them around to see your new paving.... Re: Advice on neighbours 26Dec 04, 2008 5:04 pm sammy Our neighbour called the landscapers back. They were at our place less than 5 mins and basically said it was not their rubbish and left. ! Wouldn't the fact that the neighbour called the landscaper make it their responsiblity to pay the invoice (not that anyone should because the whole thing is just stupid) but you didn't call the landscaper, just notified your neighbour. Just send him a copy of the bill with a on it stating that you have never contracted his services and please stop sending you invoices. Re: Advice on neighbours 27Dec 04, 2008 5:11 pm The landscaper is making a point, in his own way!
He’s probably not even expecting you to pay the bill. I sent an invoice to a washing machine repair mob here in Nowra; they stood me up 3 times after they had made the appointments to come. So I invoiced them for wasting my time, sent a nice letter along with it. I new they wouldn’t pay it, but I did it just to get up their nose. Maybe the landscaper is doing the same. I would ignore the invoice. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Advice on neighbours 28Dec 06, 2008 8:43 am thanks everyone. Yes, Michelle, the landscaper better not expect a payment. Because we are not paying. He would be an idiot if he tries to pursue this. He must have a quiet business to have the time to do this! I would have to go to his Nursery Shop 29Dec 06, 2008 2:45 pm Hi Sammy, what a horrible lot of people. I would not be able to help myself, i would go to his shop and walk in about 3 minutes before it was due to close. I would wander around aimlessly looking at plants etc and actually pick a really cheap one , but i would not go to the counter for at least 20 minutes or more and then hope that he serves you and then say oh i forgot my keycard/money and say that you will be back tomorrow and go back and do it all over again.
You will probably not want to do this but it does sound good hey. Good luck with your Neighbours Re: Advice on neighbours 30Dec 06, 2008 3:26 pm Chinese proverb...

I agree with that chinese proverb, ecoclassic. You can't go around in life with a vengeance! Someone must have forgotten to teach that landscaper this lesson in life! reply 32Dec 06, 2008 5:44 pm Why don't you join in the landscaper's little games, and put all the rubbish on the other neighbour's land?
A bit of irony and humour doesn't hurt, does it? You may remember me as "pringles", on such websites as Homeone. Building Atlantique Mk2 with Carlisle. At completion stage. Regards Re: Advice on neighbours 33Dec 06, 2008 7:12 pm another proverb
'an eye for an eye only makes the whole world go blind'. I would throw the bill in the bin and if he sends you another ring him up and tell him to take his meds . Idiot. I guarantee he won't pursue this - but if he sends another bill send me his name and number. Edit - I don't dig graves... I'll be nice - he can't send bills you don't owe it's not legal. Tel. 1800 326 326 Re: Advice on neighbours 35Dec 08, 2008 6:31 am sammy Hi, our neighbour was recently laying some new turf on their land. We watched them losen their subsoil and since they recently built, the soil was filled with builder's waste eg broken tiles, pvc pipes etc. We came home a few hours later and we found the same soil/rubbish they were scraping earlier on our land. We let our neighbours know. Our neighbour called the landscapers back. They were at our place less than 5 mins and basically said it was not their rubbish and left. Now, one week later, the same landscaper sent us a bill for $45!!!! He wrote Quote: For the time wasted on *date* attending to rubbish that had nothing to do with our work at *neighbour's address* How ridiculous! We know it was their rubbish. Your neighbour I am sure told them why she was calling them back, so they come to your place to look at the spoil and examine it.
Did they not know what they had done with the spoil from the landscaping? Were they checking the identity of this particular spoil to see if it was the stuff they had dug up? No, they came back because they knew they had put stuff on your place - why else would they come back? They are just chancing their luck that it was not identifiable rubbish you could actually attribute to them (plant labels etc...). They are just naughty boys... they usually grow out of this by around 10 years of age.... They should take a lesson from history...; "George was it you that chopped down the cherry tree...?" "Yes mum, I cannot tell a lie" 2 lessons for you Sammy...

Tel. 1800 326 326 Re: Advice on neighbours 36Dec 08, 2008 10:30 am Thanks Ed, what you wrote is very true. IF they know they did not do it, there is no need to return to tell us, they could have just tell neighbour straight away.
We are trying to ignore them, a bit hard, since yesterday our neighbour's boyfriend threatened us! He came to us and said, in a very threatening way, that if we stress her (our neighbour) one more time, we would have to deal with him! Excuse me, who started this???Who is stressing who???? From now on, we would just have to completely ignore them. Re: Advice on neighbours 37Dec 08, 2008 11:02 am Sammy, you sure are having a tough time ! I think your policy of completely ignoring them is good. And plant some nice thick plants down the side to block them out.
I'd also consider having a video recorder of some sort handy at the front door and switch it on record every time the neighbour or their friends knocks on the door. If you had of got the threat from the boyfriend on video it would be a very decisive bit of evidence if any further unpleasantness happens. Do the hard jobs first. "unsolicited services" means services supplied to a person without any request made by him or her or on his or her behalf. Its a term used in the Trade Practices act of 1974 Also see: http://www.austlii.edu.au/au/legis/qld/ ... 7/s53.html[/url] Re: Advice on neighbours 39Dec 08, 2008 2:29 pm thanks cabinfever. Thanks for the advice stu. I just googled ünsolicited services"and there is a page in ACCC that tells us what to do. I have already called the landscaper and told him we are not paying, but we will wait and see. The only thing to add to these comments is that where possible it's always good to try and work with people than just say "no" because you can.
