Trying to decide on our staircase, we are having spotted gum timber floors and same for the stairs however, I have seen a photo of timber treads and painted risers and I really like the look. I have been told the risers take a bit of battering so I am concerned that painted risers are not very practical. Of course the other option is all spotted gum but it just looks a bit heavy for my liking. I am having whisper white trims/doors and either china white (full or half) walls so I would paint the risers in gloss whisper white. I have chosen s/s vertical rails with spotted gum handrails. Does anyone have any thoughts/experience that may help me. Also any recommendations for stair makers South East Melbourne. Thanks.
This is sort of the look but the spotted gum wouldn't be quite as chunky so the risers would be a bit larger.
