Cracks would have been there before painting, were filled in by fresh paint and the usual expansion/contraction has just opened them up again. You can tape, bog, sand and repaint but I'd almost guarantee the cracks will open again within the year So is there anyway to prevent it? Fill the cracks with silicone? I mean I've lived in plenty of places that don't have cracks like this so finding it hard to believe that there's nothing to be done about it and all my cornices will be cracked! Best solution I've found to this problem is to tape the cracks, then bog over the top of the tape and repaint.
