As long as the existing decking is secured down hard , nails should be fine. Could always run a bead of silicon as well. Don't know about you but I am using silicon as an adhesive more and more these days in certain situations. I prefer to use a good grade construction adhesive like Sikkaflex where glue is needed and only use Silicon where a sealant is necessary.
