Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jan 19, 2016 6:43 am Hi all. I'm so undecided whether to use natural or off white mortar with our austral urban one pepper brick. Would people please show me pics of their houses with this brick??? Does anyone have any suggestions on what they think looks better? Thanks heaps! Re: Austral Urban One - Pepper 2Jan 19, 2016 10:49 am I think the off-white looks better with that brick colour. It's also the currently in style to do it that way. With the grey mortar, the brickwork itself will tend to look more monotone and dull, so you rely on the other facade elements to bring the lightness and contrast in. Re: Austral Urban One - Pepper 4Jan 19, 2016 10:19 pm If you do a search on the word 'pepper' and a few of the houses with pepper will show up, there is a few people who have used it on the Clarendon page viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75739&p=1299716#p1299716 Re: Austral Urban One - Pepper 5Jan 28, 2016 5:04 pm Off white mortar would definitely look better. Natural mortar tends to give off a yellow wash over the entire brickwork resulting in a dull greyish look. There's an existing thread on Pepper you may want to check out: http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=68803&start=20&hilit=urban+one+pepper It has a few pictures on it as well. Re: Austral Urban One - Pepper 7May 29, 2016 11:07 pm Hello, we are thinking of using this brick with off white mortar. Does anyone have a preference for ironed vs flush mortar finish? I think ironed is the more traditional mortar finish but I'm worried that viewed from an angle under daylight, it will appear lumpy. Any thoughts are appreciated, thanks.
