Re: Basin installaion issue, builder rejected to correct 9Feb 01, 2014 1:25 am Here is the basin variation, for Imperial Monaco to Raymor Sapphire Small. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ My point is not about the overflow hole. However, according to this basin model. The overflow hole is also positioned on the slope side of the basin. It is easier to tell the orientation by judging the overflow hole. They are not come with standard package, they cost me extra $400 each, and there are total 6 of them. I just want my money well spent, I want my basins fitted correctly for ergonomic reasons. And here is what my site supervisor reply: I have shown this image to my Manager and this image is only showing the style of basin and not on how it will be installed. The Sapphire Basin isn’t Fitted off with tap ware nor does it show that it is an undermount or top mount except for the wording underneath the picture. It also says “the style and pricing is in line with the original product (Picture on the left with the overflow under the tap)” Although the Monaco in this picture isn’t the basin that you have on site (the Sapphire is) that is a picture of how Carlisle homes fit of our Basins and is as per Display in the Milano at Williams Landing. Hope this clarifies the basin install onsite more for you. I mean, "Imperial Monaco" and "Raymor Sapphire" are total different products and from different companies/manufactures. I don't understand how they can installed "Raymor sapphire" basin according to "Imperial Monaco" specification. I called VCAT today, and seems the processing for a dispute would go up to 6 months long. Is there anything else I can do? Please give your valued opinion, thanks... You are dealing with twats who fail dismally at the most basic level of reading and comprehension. The grammar is less than professional as well. How they fit basins is not an installation template, how they should be fitted is the issue. Their reply is as nonsensical as their justifying the fitting by arguing that the basin's manufacturer/distributor reserves the right to vary specifications. LMAO!!! 3in1 Supadiverta. Re: Basin installaion issue, builder rejected to correct 11Feb 01, 2014 7:26 am is it such a big deal to change it? Turn the basin 180 and a minor reroute to the pvc plumbing. I dislike arguing with builders for this very point, sometimes you expend far more effort and money on achieving the moral highground than actually fixing the problem itself. Having said that, it does seem around the wrong way and the builder should be obliged to fix it, but you are obviously dealing with lazy staff who would rather sit at a desk and shoot off emails, than be proactive and rectify customer issues. Re: Basin installaion issue, builder rejected to correct 12Feb 01, 2014 11:48 am paulweixx Here is the basin variation, for Imperial Monaco to Raymor Sapphire Small. Just looking at the pictures, it looks pretty obvious to me that the tap opening should be above the plug hole. Comparing the two pictures, even though one does not show a tap, it's blatantly obvious that the pictures are taken from the users side of the sink, with the tap located away from the user. So with the Sapphire sink you can see that the plughole should be under the tap outlet, not a 'mile' away from it as they have done with your job. To my way of thinking, they've had the first year apprentice or school work experience kid put it in for you, and your builder is too pigheaded to realise their mistake and correctly rectify it. Someone else suggested being proactive and fixing it up yourself.... no way, you're paying a lot of good money to have the job done right the FIRST time, they should make good on their mistake. Are you any good with photoshop ? ... take a picture of a tree and one of your sink, and put the tree upside down next to your sink. Send it back to them ask them if they can see anything wrong with the photo.... it's just as wrong and effectively putting your sink in upside down, albeit wrong way around. Product substitution, I think in their case it is commonsense substitution ! Owner Building at Jimboomba Woods in Logan City Qld. "Rather sit at a desk and shoot off emails, than be proactive and rectify customer issues" sums it up. What a pathetic attitude. Sure it can work, but sometimes in the long run they just get themselves a whole lot of trouble they would of avoided if they just did the right thing and fixed the problem straight away. bpratt Product substitution, I think in their case it is commonsense substitution ! IMO you really ought to have someone working for you check over all the work. Re: Basin installaion issue, builder rejected to correct 16Feb 02, 2014 7:26 am Looking at your photos, I think the incorrect orientation of the basin is also the cause of the tap being perceived as 'too small' --the tap is set further back on the counter than it should be. Perhaps this is to accommodate the overflow channel, or maybe they shifted the edge of the sink forward to place the vertical edge where it 'wants' to be. However it happened, it is very obviously wrong! One suspects that they are afraid to admit their error because it may require them to replace the benchtops. I unsuccessfully tried to google the installation instructions. I found this brochure http://www.tradelink.com.au/resources/a ... r12_LR.pdf which clearly shows that for the Sapphire basins, the sloped side is always towards the front, and the Small basin has the overflow in the sloped side i.e., the front. I think you must continue to complain, and for that you need a copy of the installation instructions. A more intensive on-line search might be productive, or contacting Raymor directly (its an Australian company, for goshsakes), and/or the distributor used by your builder. Heck, if I had to I'd order one of the sinks from an on-line retailer --I note that despite charging you $400, the sinks sell for about $200. The suggestions above about hiring a building inspector are also probably pretty sound. Go get 'em. The people you are dealing with must think your stupid? Call the manufacture and get absolute confirmation of the installation orientation (I've contacted the manufacturer of products numerous times for confirmation) and then get straight on to the Most senior person at Carlisle Homes, surely they will look at the bigger picture and their companies reputation. P.S all my basins have the sloping edge orientated to the front. Re: Basin installaion issue, builder rejected to correct 18Feb 02, 2014 11:23 pm Lodge a complaint. I believe they will force the builder to fix it or the builder ends up getting a big fine. They follow up on all complaints but I believe the value must be over $3300 or they will just close it.
