These are some pics of what the master bedroom and kitchen will look like in my new house when it's built. I'm currently working on electrical and trying to figure out light positions.
Are downlights really the only effective option for drop ceilings?
Does anyone have any "creative lighting concepts" for feature ceilings such as these?
All ideas welcome,
Jo

Jo, I think something like this could work in your kitchen:
I don't think I'm a fan of those doubke/triple downlights that are there now. They look very black. Maybe they look better when they are on
In the bedroom it looks like you could still have a nice simple pendant (or oyster) in the centre of the dropped area without taking away from it as a feature? And if you needed more light on the sides you could have some standard lamps, or one of those curvy ones TDL likes.
sorry to be off-topic, but that master bedroom looks hot
Wow nice bedroom!
How about those fluro lights that go in to a recessed area around the dropped ceiling to give it a glow of light?
Not sure if it would be bright enough to replace your down lights but might be good if you just need a bit of ambient lighting without the full force of the downlights.
Oooooo that sounds noice ed!!

Or maybe something with optical fibre instead of fluro, like the side illumination ones shown here.
