Top floor extension

Hello, first time poster and renovator here

We have recently purchased a Californian bungalow with a new (2014) ground floor rear extension (prior to our purchase). We are very happy with downstairs but upstairs there is a narrow main bedroom with huge ensuite and a smallish bedroom. We'd like to extend the second floor over the new extension and create a new master bedroom with ensuite and reconfigure the existing 2 bedrooms. To do this we need to knock out 3 walls. Currently the stairs turn at the top and we'd need to knock out a wall to extend the stairs in a different direction to access the rear. We have a rough idea of what we want and now need to start!
Firstly we are looking for a building designer/draftsman/architect - we've asked around and haven't had any great recommendations. We are on the north shore Sydney. Googling websites feels like throwing darts - where is the best place to find someone to start this project?
Thanks in advance for any and all advice,
Tracey.
