Advice on a wine rack

I wanted to build a wine rack in the space above my fridge (see attached picture) but I am unsure as to what join needs to be done for the criss-cross of the timber supports? Any advice greatly appreciated.

Each piece ( if they have used real timber in the photo ) would need to be half-housed into each other. If the timber used is say 20mm thick then each piece would need to be housed 10mm into the other.

There are other ways like dowelled joints too or using small nails to simply pin the smaller lengths in between the longer strips but the half housed joint is what I would use.
