Home Renovation - One Builder or Small Contractors?

Hi Guys,

I have just purchased a 8 years old home in north west Sydney. The house was a investment property for the previous owner so all the inclusions are no more than basic.

we are currently looking at proper wall and roof insulation, double glazed windows (the house is close to a busy main road), ducted air-con, new carpet in 4 bedrooms, and a new kitchen.

Would that be easier to get a builder to organise everything for me or get different specialised contractors for each job? Can some of you guys recommend some good builders or contractors to me? How much do you reckon I need to spend to get these jobs done?

Thanks.
It is easier to get someone to co-ordinate the lot but then you will pay for them to do it.

Carpet- just buy your carpet and get it laid. Take up the old carpet yourself to save money.

Kitchen- go direct. Don't buy a kitchen from the ones that come to your home.

Ducted air $7,000.

Can't give other prices as your description is too vague.
thanks for your advice travelbug.

My biggest concern is wall insulation. It is a 2 storey 4 bed room brick veneer house with no insulation in walls. Is this going to be a huge job to put some insulation batts in? Can I trust those air-con guys as one of them told me they can get it done when they installing the air-con.
