Completed the dining wall timber cladding out of recycled blackbutt in a rough sawn finish, which is what the front pivot door is made out of. Really pleased with the way it turned out and tied in together the timber posts in the corners. Will be doing the same with the wall in our master.

The modern black Saturn Zen switch is in contrast to the rustic aged timber post. Old meets new:

Haji... A question on relation to your beautiful feature beams... Did these need any special treatment in regards to termite etc? Absolutely love your build it's stunning!! TIA

Thank you all.

Hi Haji, what sort of lighting have you used in the alucobond?

The porch downlights are very similar to what Kasra is getting - Brightgreen. These are gimbal downlights so you can change the angles as our roof is 7 degrees.

As for the walk lights, got these which were ridiculously cheap from a reputable brand:

Not it didn't. All the beams are A grade structural beams. The main beam is meant to be over 100 years old and was used at Melbourne Pier apparently so if sea water didn't damage it hopefully it will outlast us.

Ok that's awesome! May I please also bother you to tell me where you purchased them and if I'm not being too rude how much for the 3 surrounding the door? No bother if you don't want to share costs 😉 Thanks again!

We got them from Recycled Timber Specialists in Kinglake in Victoria - http://www.recycledtimberspecialists.com.au/index.html

From memory they were $350 per metre.

Fantastic thank you so much! We are in Gippsland so Kinglake isn't too far 😉

Just an update... There's been more progress including screwing all the timber cladding on the front facade, finishing off timber wall in the master, all switches installed, most plumbing fitted off, all tiling complete, doors varnished and other bits and pieces.

I am going to try and hold off on photos until we move in which we are hoping is next Friday. Wednesday should see oven/cooktops, dishwasher, hot water system and hydronic heater boiler getting installed which means I will sleep over then. Will hopefully get the caulking done by then and book in for final inspection for next Friday as well.
Absolutely amazing Haji! Can't wait for those final pics!

The facade timber cladding is that a natural stain? Or clear?

Love the colour

Invoice says rich wood oil, got the timber supplier to coat it as I didn't want to mess around with it.
Thats cedar yeah

Hey Haji, when can we see more photos of the place?
Some disappointing news for us, we were hoping to move in end of this week but apparently we forgot to get the gas line connected which can take upto 20 working days apparently. Being an owner builder I never thought about it and no one had advised me until a couple of days ago when my plumber asked if I got it connected.

We have put the application in and told them of our situation and will persist with it, let's hope they don't take too long.

This gives us more time to finish the finer details inside and outside which seems to be taking longer than expected.

My lockup & fixer in the mean time put a nail through one of the water pipes as well so there was some leakage which we are repairing. Fortunately we found the problem now than later.

Hi Haji, i would say that is a blessing in disguise... Having more time to sort your build and fix things is great.

Were the leakages in the heating or some other piping?

Let's hope so.

Leakage wasn't in the heating thankfully which is some 10cm below the concrete anyhow. It was the cold water pipe behind the bathroom cabinet where our lockup & fixer was nailing horizontal battens in order to install the vertical timber battens similar to the ones on the front facade.
Oh poo! Hope they get it all sorted quick smart! Maybe in the long run it will work out well so you can move in with no little odd jobs left so you can just enjoy the amazing home you've built

Haji
We've had most of the external lights installed this week as well as walkway lights in the porch area + CCTV cameras from Hikvision.

Hi Haji,
I have been following your build, it looks amazing!! Can I ask where you got the outdoor sensor floodlight from? They look nice and slimline.
