And example of some really big eaves in action
I took these pics at 6:30am and 4pm, ie the time when the sun is low and can get to the sides of the building.
While they are not ideal orientation wise - due to the northern side being very exposed - it shows how really large eaves can be attractive and functional on the east and western walls.
Also note the window shades that give privacy to the windows yet maintain the views in the close proximity environment of a resort in the last photo.

Update from me! Couldn't find the trimmer - not sure if there isn't one simply because the eave is so narrow. Went ahead with the spring toggles and it all worked out…
