Pre-wiring for home theatre and multi-room audio

Hi guys,

I have my 'colours' appointment in two days, and at that time we have to hand in our completed 'electrical plan'.

We have a pretty good handle on all the light/electrical points required but would like to ensure that we have everything in place for our future theatre room.

We are building a double storey with Henley so I realise that access to the roof space on the ground floor is not possible.

When will be installing a power point in the ceiling space for the future projector...what other cables need to be connected to the projector?

Also will need to wire the 5 speakers+ sub. Can these wires be run easily through wall cavity's after handover? I am not sure how co-operative our builder will be during this process.

Also looking to wire speakers into ceiling of alfresco, and maybe into family room to have multi-room audio like in the display homes. If I am able to get the wiring in during construction, should I wire them all back to the home theatre room to where I will have my audio system?

I appreciate any input as I am a novice in this field.

if possible to futureproof your setup:

HDMI/DVI
component cable (eg: 3x rca)
CAT5e/6 if you wish (its known as the magic cable.. as it does alot!)

you do not require sound as there normally is only just 1 speaker in your projector

also try to terminate your cables to one central point, if possible its a shame your builder does not want to assist you letting you run the cables where you want, there seams to be a real issue with that, hence why we are building ourself.

and yes its certainly alot easier getting the audio cables done before the gyprock is up, i guess you could run it behind the skirting board, if the board had a groove routed into it.. ok i am getting rather ambitious there but its an option if they don't let you put the cabling in first.

Hey guys,

Audio Visual Dreams has done work in a few Henley Homes now and they are OK generally about it.

Speak with Rod as he is able to pre-wire to all the requirements of the law at a very reasonable cost....
Hi Again,

We also did this in the Theatre room downstairs.
We organised for the wires to be set up after frame stage for the projector and all the speakers. Your building will advise you of when you can have your contractor go in to do the wiring - we also had our telephone/internet wiring done at the same time. We had the internal ceiling powerpoint for the projector installed by Henley.
