Smartphone Automation

Anyone familiar or have experience with this kind of product?

I'm looking for something that is affordable and DIY would be ideal. So it seems this is a suitable product.

Seems it is fairly simple and easy to install, and not that expensive. Works with both iPhone and Android.

Does anyone know where we can get something like this?

Thanks in advance.
You can do this with products like Clipsal C-Bus and ZWave. There are a few threads here on these home automation products. For retro-fit (existing homes) Z-Wave is probably the cheaper option.
I am planning on using zwave and the vera 3 controller.
There are a number of alternatives depending on your level of automation requirements.
If it just lighting then there is the lifx globe that is wireless enabled. There are a couple of others out there as well.
Another alternative for a couple hundred dollars is the NinjaBlocks http://ninjablocks.com/. Its IP enabled, web aware, comes with a range of starter sensors and an Iphone app to control it.
You need to be aware that many overseas wireless automation systems are incompatible (and possibly illegal) is Australia as we operate on different wireless frequencies even for the same protocol. Zwave is a good example of this.

Then if you want to tinker, there's Rasberry Pi and Ardunio to build your own systems.

These guys seem to be what you are looking for, though I am still researching them myself.

Looks like they are using z-wave technology and rebranded Vera controller.
If you want to DIY z-wave then there's quite a number of online retailers that you can buy the z-wave modules and would probably save you quite a lot of $$
You might have asked at just the right time, that is if this article is to be believed...
