Individual Design - New Choice Homes

After a long time of considering designs and builders we selected New Choice Homes to build our second home. Homeone was valuable in our research so thought we would share our build with NCH.

We had set ideas of what we wanted and decided to draft our own drawings to suit our requirements and work within our block orientation. We wanted our design to have a theatre at the front of the house which faces NE and the dining/alfresco doors facing SW so that we could enjoy the breeze. We designed the house so that the kitchen and dining areas are on the NW side of the property to utilise the light. The study is large enough to be multi purpose and we have access to the powder room without going into the kids zone.

Looks great. All the best with your build!

Good luck, hopefully an easy build for you.

New Choice are flying through ours, should have Colorbond on the roof next couple of days which was about 7 weeks from when the slab went down.
That is great news that they are running to schedule.

One of the questions we had at the start of our dealings with NCH was the time frame, which was a lot better than what other builders were offering.
Looks great!!!

I especially love your gigantic pantry! And brick choice, very much like mine

Their scheduling is pretty impressive, always something happening on site to keep it moving forward.

We were told about 6 months from slab to PCI, but Supervisor says he aims for about 5 months. We will cop the Christmas slowdown for 3 weeks though
How big is your block? Looks like you are going to have lots of space, and the upgrades you've gone for all sound pretty similar to what we are looking at doing. Hopefully goes up nice and quick for you now.

Thanks, it took us a while to get the design to tick all the boxes considering what needed to be located where and try to balance out the sizes.

We also had mundaring red, restoration red or vintage red on a our list, we like them all, yours look great.
Your plan looks amazing Choosy.. You even have BBQ recess!
I am building with NCH too.. I picked mostly their standard select range.
Your aspire upgrades look good. Wish I have done that.

Our block is in an established area so we steped the garage store back which allowed us to bring the house forward and leave almost 13 mtrs to the back fence.
Our pre start upgrades were not much as a lot of items are included in the standard select range and we included most other items in our original pricing.
We are looking at a maximum building time of 190 working days (in our contract) to allow for any delays, however this is a lot better than other builders who wanted 250+ working days in their contracts.
Good luck with your prestart next week.

We took a long time at the beginning of our journey and asked for information on their Select and Aspire range early so that we could do the rounds well before going to prestart.
A lot of the select range is very nice and having renovated a kitchen and bathroom in our current house, nothing lasts forever.
Glad to see another NCH on homeone

Plans

Thursday 23rd Footings done and ready for slab

Friday 24th Slab down
Soakwells last week

Soakwells and water run done Saturday morning.
Site cleaned Monday morning before the mess starts again.

Facebricks arrived Wednesday morning, Internal bricks arrived Wednesday lunch time, unfortunately they supplied horizontal instead of vertical bricks which will have to be changed over. No windows or door frames however site shed and WC are on site.

Window and Door frames arrived this morning.
Be interesting to see if they try and push it out by Xmas to get to plate height for a nice Christmas present of a progress invoice!
Our brickies took about 10 working days from memory.
We are happy with just the slab before the break, we don't expect the bricks to be started until the new year. It will probably take the brickes a month to do unless they put two teams on it given it is mostly single face brick and just under 400m2.
