Our First Dream Home G&P Builders

I have been following this forum for ever and I am so excited to start my own thread. It’s probably a bit early. Our land has settled and we’ve had our preliminary plan back and we are now waiting for the revisions to come back. I think due to following this forum I wanted so many upgrades to make it really my dream house but sadly there’s always a budget

I’m trying to decide what stays and what goes. I’m finding it hard to draw the line. It’s so hard as well when you ask for a price and they just say oh that’s expensive . I was originally wanting to go for a Hamptons style but classy is expensive lol. So I think the shaker cupboards have to go.

We are building a just under 250m2 custom design that I have designed myself over the last two years based on what our family likes and needs. It has ended up suiting our blocks 40 metre frontage really well. But our roofline is a bit flat and simple which I was a bit worried about. Everyone that sees it comments that they wouldn’t have the bathrooms at the front. I was a bit worried but I think with the plantation shutters on those windows it will be fine and the different window heights breaks up the facade a bit. I’m think of not getting the privacy glass on them and just using the plantation shutters for the privacy. Am I crazy?

Wow!! So neat and functional! As it was previously stated in my build thread, wife wanted an acreage house but it didn't work with our town block.

Thank you! Our block falls under Ipswich City Council but it’s Urban Utilities as well. I just read your whole thread last night and today. Your house looks amazing I’m sure you can’t wait to be in. It looks like you’re nearly there. So exciting! Your baby picture is adorable. I’m currently on mat leave, I am a nurse but I work in admin in an emergency department.

Congrats on your impending bub! First or is it one of many? I hope you aren't aiming to finish a house before a bub's birth like us.

Bubs is actually 11 months now . I’m heading back to work Boxing Day. I’ve been lucky enough to have 14 months off at half pay. She’s our third. That’s why we need the 5 bedrooms .

Hope you are enjoying your third! Our little one is just growing so fast you can hardly blink! Even our big boy is the same. He's becoming a young man.

It’s amazing how they all have such different personalities. Even as babies. My oldest boy is 11 and I can’t believe it. The time goes so quickly. Do you plan to have more to fill up some more of your bedrooms Rural? Do you have a handover date yet?

I don't mind this arrangement, and just made a modification as a suggestion.

Would you consider creating a separate WC, depends on how you feel when one person is using the shower or bath?

Thank you! I did think of creating a separate WC but I like to sit on the closed toilet and talk to my husband while he’s trapped in the shower lol.

Sorry been MIA past few days!

We don't have plans but never say never! Otherwise, we might adopt if it's not the traditional way!

No handover date... after the weekend will probably try to schedule a meeting to really clarify what is their expect end date because it is getting beyond ridiculous even if there has been unfavourable weather to explain the delay.

Thank you. I just checked out your thread it looks like your build is flying. Your plan has so many great spaces for everyone to spread out.

I’m still a bit undecided about my floor mounted ensuite bath tap. All of the floor mounted ones are so expensive

Our plans came back from the builder but there were a few changes, a few misunderstandings and a few errors (53 in fact) so they’ve had to go back to the designer again Mostly just minor things so hopefully it won’t take so long to come back this time.

I just read your post and love your house, so functional and no wasted space, which is one of my pet hates in house designs, rooms so small they’re useless and little nooks that will never be used.

I went with a project home but heavily modified it and extended length and width so it’s barely like the original plan.

I love your selections and am a bit envious of your black tap ware, black wasn’t an option with my builder but I do love it.
