Ridiculous time frame for Sydney Water approval

Hi everyone, has anyone had any issues with getting a Sydney Water approval in order to get your construction certificate?

Our house was approved by our council on 12th of October. The builder then submitted plans to Sydney Water for approval in order to get the CC a couple of weeks later. The builder said it usually takes 2-4 days to get their approval however may be a week for us as we have an easement on our block.

Anyway it is now at the end of November and we hadn't heard anything. We followed up again and Sydney Water said that it can take up to 60 days to review an application (our house DA was approved faster than that!). They also said their average time at the moment is 4-6 weeks and currently they only have 1 assessor and another is on holidays. What a joke!

What is most annoying is that we were on track to start building before Xmas and now it looks like nothing will happen until late January!

This is 100% true. You can not hang anything on steel frames. very frustrating

General Discussion

Depends on size, local regulations etc. Ask your Council.
