Our Ex-Watersun Build

Hey all,

Figured now was a good time to start our build thread.

We purchased a block in Stage 13 of Merrifield Estate (Mickleham, VIC) in June last year. The land finally settled on 30/06/2016 and we are now impatiently waiting to hear from our builder when works will commence.

We have elected to build the Kent 27sq. We've made a slight change to the design below, with the study being removed to create additional garage space. Mr Wickie is a mechanic and is currently doing up an old chev so having a big space for him was a must have.

We have done our colour selections already and will upload some more pics later!

I'll be following along! Be sure to post lots of progress pics

Can I ask, was this a design of an existing plan and you made some changes? If so, which house design did you choose? I'm also thinking of an extended garage, and this size is crazy awesome!!! I was thinking of putting in a gym in to my garage haha

Also, is this design on display somewhere? I'd love to check it out!

Hopefully your build goes smoothly

Yeah this is an existing design - its called the Kent.

The only massive change we made was removing the study and making that all one big garage space and adding a roller door at the back of the garage. Our design would look something like this - apologies in advance for my terrible photoshop skills!

It's on display in Ballarat, Bendigo and Werribee. We actually ended up picking almost the same colours as the display home in Bendigo without even trying

We actually hunted around for about 6 months before finding this design, quite by accident when checking out another Watersun display. We were quite confident we liked it but wanted to wait until it was actually built and we could check it out in person before we committed. Once it was built, we took a drive out to Ballarat and Bendigo. As soon as we walked in we knew it was perfect for what we wanted. Then we had to hunt around to find a block to fit it and then wait for the land to be ready! All in all, we've probably been in this process for a good 18 - 24 months! Thankfully the end is in site and we are hoping to be in around Christmas time!

Funny you say this RegVic as we are experiencing this now!
A small update - heard back from Watersun this morning and they finally have the paperwork they needed to get so they have now submitted our building permit! Hopefully this means the actual building is not too far away!
That's fantastic news!! Very exciting not long now;)

Omg Your garage is HUGE!!! I don't even want to show my partner. Lol. I like your floor plan...I love open plan for the kitchen/family.

Wickie Tip: never marry a mechanic!

Have you got a floor plan for your place? I would love to see it!

Or someone who wants their own gym in their garage. I'm loving this massive garage and really thinking on the same layout! haha
Hahaha andyboiii you could start charging the neighbours to use your gym and make a fortune!

Here is my floor plan. So I moved our kitchen sink to where the oven is...and the oven behind the island bench! Makes more room for entertaining having the island bench with nothing on it. And the open area on the left of island is a little study nook!

Ohhh I love that plan! It's so big! I love the study nook too! I wish we put a study nook in our place.

Hey random question for katski- are you on the side where the nature strips are super long? Hubby & I have been trying to figure out why they are so big?

No we are on the other side! But so jealous of how big their nature strips are. In the original plans it was because the road was going to be wider at the top of Jacka st!

So we took a trip up to one of the Watersun Display houses and I took a couple pics. I love love love this house. I cant wait until we are actually in ours!

Linen Cupboard - this is actually one of my favourite things about the house! Our current linen cupboard is woefully small

The mini lounge

Part of the backyard - making sure our future dog will have enough room to run around!

These are the same floorboards as we have picked

And we've picked the same benchtop as this

And the kitchen / dining / lounge area

The floorboard and benchtop look lovely...
Loving it Wickie, that's a fab kitchen. You're going to have a decent alfresco and outdoor area behind the garage too

Love the flooring and bench tops
