Has anyone recently built or is in the process of building a granny flat in the Parklea release area of Blacktown? (ie. Acacia gardens, Stanhope, Parklea, Glenwood etc). If so I would be interested to know if you paid the whopping $23k (for a 2 bedroom) section 94 contribution to Blacktown Council? No that's not a typo, it's even more for a 3 bedroom, which is $33k!!! What I want to know is why would council charge such an exorbitant fee knowing that it's a quarter of the cost of building the granny flat in the first place. I don't understand why other councils are a few thousand, even Blacktown is below $10k but the Parklea area is so exorbitant. It's not like our playgrounds are made of gold!
Can anyone shed some light on this and confirm whether I'm just reading the website wrong? Thanks in advance!
