Enjoy the read. I'll keep an eye out for comments and questions, and provide any information about the build, the builder or the process.
Cheers.
Pretty average week of progress despite some glorious weather!

Glad to see you've joined the forum, we've been keeping a close eye on "Forg" posts but he's due to finish very soon. We are building the Elyse 15 in hornsby council area and are at week 14 of a 41 week contract. So far all has gone smoothly since the build began with the exception of a 1 month delay due to bad weather, but that's mother nature for you. We seem to be back on track with the ground floor bricks completed and the scaffolding erected this week.
We look forward to reading more of your posts and blog updates as it gives us insight into what to expect in the coming months.
The blog has been updated. This week we've posted a couple of new pics as the exterior of the house is almost complete. Our general tips page has been updated following a bit of disappointment linked to our alfresco stacker door height.

Kach, good luck with your build. Happy to share notes as we progress.
Cheers.
hi Raina. our build is 12.4m wide and the plot of land is around 17m wide. I think it's around 44sq in total. hope that helps!
Thank you.

Ur house looks beautiful. Great colours
Whilst the contract prohibits you heading on site without supervision, we can see fairly well from just outside the property to see if there's any meaningful change inside. We also intend to arrange regular visits through the site supervisor so hopefully we'll still be able to provide regular updates on the blog & on here, and also get some pics.
We are going tobuild a same home too.I have one concern about that void area ,is it bit narrow ?their display home looks all good as it's much wider.

Hi Blackbeauty. We're really pleased with the width of the void area. Any wider and we think it'd be a poor use of space. It's around 2.3m wide. At the top there's a small angled section where the roof cuts across (not sure if that's only there due to our modifications or if it's standard on all builds). We're having glass installed in the stairwell and the area between the void and the upstairs hallway so that'll help open it up and let the light flow throughout also. Hope that helps.
We have emails from the sales team where they clearly stated it would take 4-5 weeks per stage and that the contract would state a 36 week build time.
We're currently running at a little over 6 weeks per stage, and the contract ended up with a 45 week build time. We provided the head of Alkira homes with copies of the emails the sales staff sent us when we disputed the build time, and he simply said (in so many words) tough luck. He wouldn't budge. His position was of course helped by the fact that we'd paid $15k+ in tender and contract costs at that point in time.

Their display home is also 2.3 m wider and that looks good..we are going with the 38sq elyse and the area is a bit narrow and we had to widen it to 2.3 to get the same size of the display home thereby reducing the size of study and guest bed
we did not increase the width to 2.3m, it's only 1.8m! we are going to get some kind of special ceiling light to solve the problem.
Our building contract just started, SS said the slab could be done before Xmas.
Hi Kach. Are you building with Alkira also? Out of curiosity, if you are building with them, how long did they advise you that each stage of the build would take?

Yes we are building with Alkira, however no one ever advised us of the length of time each stage would take to complete. We have read plenty of blogs to know that 4 to 6 weeks would be considered reasonable. We are just disappointed that no information is forth coming, we ended up asking the bricklayers for a time frame and they gave us a week. That would have ment that they finished today but I drove past this afternoon and they're still not done.

No idea about the driveway question, but your price for a house that size including landscaping seems very good!
