D&A -Landsdale build with Summit - more pics :)

So I thought I would finally start a thread about our build, after stalking the forum for months

Will start with the basics and post more later

In January 2012 we decided to buy a patch of dirt in the Corimbia Estate, Landsdale WA.
It is 510sqm - 15m wide by 34m deep, just right for what we want. Opposite us is bushland which is supposed to stay as a nature reserve, so we can look out at the trees instead of a neighbour!
This will be our first build, so very exciting/scary.

Things got put on hold for a while until we recently signed up with Summit, building the Retro display.

We've pretty much left the floorplan as is, only changes we've made are:
Making it 30cm narrower to fit on block
Making it longer to compensate (and so I could get a bigger WIR hehe)
Removed the bar in the theatre and made it fully enclosed

Prestart is booked for the 7th of November, so we're frantically trying to choose colours etc.
Did our tile selection on the weekend, quite happy with them
will ask the boy to help with uploading photos soon, I know how much everyone loves pictures
WOW! How funky is that!! Haha love it!! Are you sticking with the retro theme or just using the plan?
Hi Twiggens
Interesting looking design. You have plenty of bench space in the kitchen/scullery which I like to see.
How is the block orientated? I notice the master bedroom has plenty of glass "north" and "south" of the bed as we look at it. could get a lot of sun/heat if facing east/west.

Thanks kat
We're sticking with the retro look with the skillion roof, we just love that style.

The block faces North, so the windows in the master bedroom are north/south, not ideal but hopefully won't be too bad in summer.

I'm so in love with all the bench/storage space in the kitchen! Our current unit (which we'll rent out when house is built) has the tiniest kitchen in the history of the world. Well, it wouldn't be too bad if the microwave was on the wall, and the coffee machine was somewhere else...

Will try post a pic of the plan tonight
That is one funky design - I love it! Good to know we have future neighbours already on this forum!

Will be following this religiously
Ok, so I'm going to attempt to put some pictures up, hope it works!

Layout of House on Block

Front Elevation

Ok, that should do for now, tile photos next
Yay! So glad you started a thread twiggens. Looking forward to following. Love your plan and the changes, particularly the bigger master/WIR. The front elevation looks great.
I love the design! Look forward to following your build.
Thanks Guys! We love it too

We went and had a drive past the block this arvo, and the developer has parked their earthmoving equipment on it for the landscaping opposite us... Oh well, the landscaping looks good!

Tiles anyone? White ones are for the walls, 200x400, grey ones are floors, 300x300 rectified. Not looking forward to seeing what summit charge us to lay non standard tiles.

We're waiting on a quote from European Ceramics for wood look tiles to do the rest of the house, no pics of that yet.
So many colours to choose from, can't decide!
Hey Twiggens looks like we'll be neighbours! That's pretty much our view when we look across the road, except we're around the corner from you (if I'm correct in thinking where I think you are!). Looks like we have picked the same tiles as well.

Awesome!! I can't wait to move in and start meeting people in the area. Where we live at the moment, the "community spirit" is a bit lacking. It's going to be great fun watching the houses go up!

Great minds think alike of course
I hope the white tiles on the walls don't look too hospital-ish when they're all up.
Love your tile selections. Would you mind PM'ing me when you get your quote for the wood look tiles? I am loving them and really want them for our place. I saw some at Trend Ceramics on the weekend but we couldn't find anyone free to ask about price.
Just want to get an idea of rough cost per sqm or whatever the standard is.
Sure can! Hopefully we'll find out tomorrow.
if not I'll be having a whinge at the tile people! It shouldn't take more than a week for a quote methinks.
We had a last minute trip to Home Base Expo today, ahead of prestart on Wednesday, eeek!
Hadn't had a chance to choose the splashback colour for the kitchen and scullery... Have decided to go for Onyx - very sexy sparkly black
we figure the living area will be so light and open that the darkness of the splashback will be a great contrast and not look too dark at the same time.
Could be completely wrong though, fingers crossed it looks as good as we hope it will!
Thought I might as well link to the cabinet and bench colours we've chosen too

It's really fun choosing stuff like that, enjoy it Jaymak!
Sooo excited for prestart tomorrow
We've pretty much been choosing things since January so have had plenty of time to decide!
It better look good once it's all put together or I'll be mighty unhappy.

Also got the quote from European Ceramics back today for the wood look tiles that we like, very happy with it. If anyone is interested, PM me

Prestart details tomorrow!
Took a day off from work to complete our Prestart, got in at 8:30am and were out the door by 11:10.
Didn't have to waste time on an electrical consult because my partner is an electrician so he'll do it all.

The lady from Summit was great, very helpful.

Does anyone know what the price difference is to upgrade from Laminex "Natural Finish" to "Silk Finish"? Just one of the many things they make you fork out extra for, craziness.
We also wanted a splashback with the metallic finish, not just the standard glass, can't wait to see what that will set us back!

One major thing we did decide on is the render colours:

Roof: Colorbond Dune
Main Render: Dune 150% (bit darker than display)
Feature Render and Weatherboard cladding: Solver Pale Mocca
Internal Doors: Solver Kitty Grey
Front Door: Corinthian 1200 Pivot Infinity INFWS6G - will try get a picture

Can't think of anything else major that we decided on, doorknobs aren't particularly interesting...!
Love your layout Twiggens! And love the front of the house!
I had my pre-start last Friday and my builder charges $50 per cupboard door for silk finish .. Didnt bother asking about the benchtops lol, just a little out of my budget.

Thanks Echo

Christ I hope they don't charge us that much, we've got a million drawers in the kitchen and scullery!! I guess we'll just have to wait and see

Debating between a carport or full garage. What’s more practical?

Increasing Home Value

Yeah I was tossing up the same thing not long ago. Ended up going with a carport ’cause honestly, for Brisbane it does the job fine. Keeps the sun and hail off the car,…
