Practical completion and final building inspection

Our house is finally nearing practical completion. The builder asked me to get my Building Consultant in to do the final inspection next Friday. However, I am reluctant to do so as they haven't called Practical Completion....

So, did your Builder call Practical completion (and gave the 5 days required notice in writing) and then you got your building inspector in?

Or, did you get a final inspection done before practical completion was called?

Love to hear what is the "norm"

Thanks

K
I will be having a pre-pci with my own inspector 1 week before the actual pci.

Also, on the day of pci itself, my own inspector will be there beside me, so that the site supervisor can't tell me bulls***.
Thanks for your reply Zeitgeber. I cant help but think we are doing their Q.A!
Do you know if its normal to do it the way you (and I) are doing a pre-PCI inspection?
Can anyone else comment?
I just did the PCI on the appointed day.
