Anyone building in the NSW Fairfield Council area???

They just introduced a new levy under section 94A on 4th July and expect people to pay on the 6th July.

The levy is 1% of the development cost. For me its $2,500.

What a bunch of ****** they are.
In Melbourne some councils charge an 'open air contribution' for unit developments which is supposed to pay to provide more public open space because you nasty developers are actually erecting a legal building on your own land.

This fee is in addition to other taxes and charges that you already pay AND the additional rates that each title on the block needs to pay etc, etc...

These 'contributions' (aka tax) can be up to a whopping 5% of the build price so it is not just your council that have hitched their caboose to the gravy train!
