Things to do for Good Luck prior to Building

Hi all, I read on here somewhere a while ago about digging money into the soil under the slab or something??? And I am after these or similar advice on things I can do prior to the house going up. Thanks
We were told that it was a Greek custom to place gold coins under the formwork prior to pouring the slab.
We placed $2 coins all over our slab (as well as DH being a goose and placing a couple of $5 notes as well LOL)

Thank you. Do I use timber floorboards for stairs or do people use timber treads? Or is both the same?
