Hi Mirz, the backyard looks great. I think you had a great idea by putting the planks in front of the sleepers. Never would have thought of that.
Just one question, we have our colour appointment next wednesday, and we got a call from the admin wanting to book us into tender for the following week.
Is that enough time for Henley to get everything ready for tender?
How long was it between your colour appointment and tender? Or anyone else.
Thanks.
Thanks Darren. That should be a problem. It's good for you indeed.
Worst case scenario, if they will make mistakes, they will have to fix them.
Just remind you admin to email you a copy of tender document at least a day in advance. This will give you time to go through and double triple check, selected colours, material, and changes.
Good luck with upcoming appointments
Hi Mirz,
Thanks for the info.
We are doing lots of upgrades and some are not very common such as using Formica profile with a laminex vinyl wrap colour. (yes you can do this, but you have to push).
So just concerned that they won't have enough time to do all of this.
Since it takes admin two days to reply with an upgrade price.
How long was between colour and tender?
Thanks again.
Looking shmick Mirz !! Gotta say you have alot of patience
Mate I will probably need to revisit a few pages to when you got your backyard done but I've got a quick question - did you install sprinklers at the time or have plans to do in the near future ??
Thanks confused, no sprinklers for us. Happy to hold hose and spray.
Long day lights are just making perfect timing to get into garden and get dirty
Hi Mirz
Great progress. what kind of trees & plants in your mind to go in the back and front?
cheers
Hi Mirz,
I was reading your thread from last one week. It's with lots of information and loving your DIY projects. Hopefully we will be on this stage but still long way to go.

went with few citrus fruits and lemon trees in backyard. veggie patch is flourishing and making me so happy (never had any luck with veggies in past
)
planted gladiola and lilies bulbs in garden beds and they are coming out like anything. this weekend planning to plant tube roses bulbs too.
TBH, haven't decided any other tree at front
i just lost the plot this morning when our NHP dude turned up with incorrect strainers for our kitchen sink.
this is going on for over 7 months now, and this idiot every time turns up with wrong strainers. i have seen quite a few dumb people in my life but he is a special case.
His painter to re-paint garage back door hasn't turned up yet since NHP.
7 months and still he could not order and source correct strainers for a kitchen sink supplied and installed by Henley.
i'm happy to buy him a horse arsed trophy on reaching this milestone.
if you will ever hear name Michael C going to do your NHP, just run away as far as you can.
It really makes you wonder how some people get by doing basic day to day activities.
Lets hope he doesn't do our NHP! I think i'd run out of patience if he can't even get a strainer right after 7 months.
He is one and only, don't think anyone can reach his level, lol.
He is still in our north west region. but hopefully he won't turn up for your NHP.
Seriously, if you will find out his name on your NHP appointment letter, just call and ask them to send someone with a little bit of brain.

haha the feeling when u see ur beetroots and carrots in ur veggie patch with other goodies. buy some kale from the shop and plant the roots too. all of these done by my mum and dad when they were visiting the current place
. show some picks once you completed i know you doing a nice job in the garden
That is right, it's a very different feeling looking at growing veggies in backyard.
I'm just liking high winds for my plants so far. Not sure it's just due to outer suburb and heaps of empty land or its gonna remain same forever.

Surprised you still have outstanding issues from NHP ! Seriously 7 months wasn't enough time for them to get it all organised..
Sometimes I feel they don't really care of any brand repo once you've taken possession of the house !
Had a new Construction Mgr take over from the previous one in our area who assured he will have someone to replace our Butlers Pantry Glass (as it was scratched during build and we only noticed a few weeks into the house) but it's been a few weeks and we just keep exchanging phone calls.. Feeling really annoyed now as I haven't had any contact to make anything happen

Most of important stuff was done. I thought it's just strainers and how hard it would be to source from supplier.
Anyway he is coming tomorrow again with 2 X strainers to fit in kitchen sink.
I better ask correct spellings from him to engrave on horse arse trophy, lol.
Nature strip is turning green now with nice sunny days.
Side drain strip converted into nice veggie patch and now has two sleepers high retaining wall.
Front retaining walls are ready too. Now time for artificial turf to go in on this weekend.
Mind giving me a quick tutorial on how to create that retaining box
few questions
Where did you source your timber from ? Did you say eBay was cheaper than bunnings/ masters for screws ?? How did you support the timber planks to the ground - concrete individual pegs or just digging them in ? I'm assuming you've used timber pegs and not iron ones.

I used 75mm thick sleepers both for posts and retaining walls. Bought them from local timber supplies and bunnings (when running short).
But you can also use concrete sleepers and steel posts.
All nuts and bolts are way much cheaper on eBay.
hello, newbie here
this forum captured my interests and i have been reading through the past threads. question: base from your build experience with henley, how long did it took to build the sahara q1? our settlement is on april 2016 and we'd like to aim for december 2016 move in *aiming for the stars*

Hahahaha, no secret mission
Enjoying house now more and more. It's settled pretty well. It's time to chill and relax.
On a side note, came across couple of red backs and white tails. So got whole house inside out sprayed by professional on this weekend.
Greetings Mirz,
Glad to hear you're enjoying the new home...
I hate spiders, good move with the spraying!
Thank God, no more spiders. Looks like pest control guy done his job well.
I'm taking time off from work today and plans are just to relax, and enjoy new house with family to the very best.
Wishing you all a merry Christmas
and a very happy new year.
See you guys in 2016
