Our Custom Hamptons Inspired Home - We are in!!!

Thanks guys. Just a bit stressed because I feel bad for our poor neighbours. They moved in a few months ago and are patiently waiting for our frame to go up, particularly the double brick garage wall. Once that's done we can get the fence up. In the meantime they have been paying for a temp fence. Might have to offer again to go halves as did not think it would take this long!

Meanwhile our neighbours at the back just emailed hubby a fencing quote - no hello, no preamble, no explanation. Very strange and a bit rude if you ask me! They briefly introduced themselves via text a while back, but strange just to forward the quote only. I mean did they even bother to get 3 quotes? I have no idea what's a fair price. We've asked and will see what they say.

Lastly got our energy report revised after we had to change our void window and huge stacker door from double glazed to low e glass (was too heavy otherwise) and happy to report we still meet 6 star, so no further upgrades to the insulation needed! Money saved, for a change

Great news on the savings.

As for fencing if the rates are similar to Perth then you're looking at around $115pm for a standard Colorbond fence to give you a baseline. I can't tell you how many fencing quotes I've looked at in my line of work handling home insurance claims

Hi daniJ, can I ask how wide your stacker door panels are? We have double glazed ours so wonder if we will have the same issue?

Hey Ezza. They are around 4.5m wide. Was not possible to get the 3 panel configuration we wanted in double glazed as each panel was too thick/ heavy. So we went the low e glass option which is lighter and not too bad thermally.

How wide is yours? Will probably depend on your supplier as well. One supplier wouldn't do a 3 panel config for us even in the low e glass!

Ours are 3.2m wide, but they haven't mentioned that they can't be double glazed. Your doors will look great! We would have loved a 6 bi-part door but would have needed reinforce the ceiling.

Congrats on the money savings!

Does seem odd when neighbours just do that without consulting you in person or even with a nice letter. Social skills much? How do they expect you are going to interact next time?!
Just ignore each other?!
I guess to be fair we don't interact with any of our current neighbours, but our rental has high fences all round.. not conducive to interaction!

Perhaps it won't be an issue for you. Fingers crossed.

Yeah we have a big steel lintel above the door for reinforcement!

I know, weird right? Yeah we are the same. Don't really see hide nor hair of our current neighbours, as we mostly keep to ourselves.

But really want to get off to a good start with this next house, and try to make more of an effort. These guys just aren't making it easy for us!

Finally got an update from our SS and surprise, surprise, framer did not start yesterday. That was the third reschedule. Was supposed start on the 10th, then 17th and then yesterday the 24th. Now being told this Friday as he is still held up on another job.

So frustrated right now but nothing much we can do.

I remember that feeling hun, not a nice feeling ☹️

I can't believe you still don't have frames, I'm beyond angry for you!!! We waited 8 weeks for frames so I feel your frustration
Thanks Charli. You might have the record there! We are almost at 7 weeks. So glad you are finally close to handover ☺

oh sorry to read no frames up yet

Fingers crossed for tomorrow.
Frames have finally started going up today folks! Woohoo.

Hubby went past after work and took some photos. He's only comment: master looks a bit small but he's happy with everything else. Can't wait to get out there myself later in the week!! ☺

Wow awesome!! Conframeulations!!!

Can't believe how much they knocked out in a day:) great progress... Wish my guys went that fast lol

Must've been a good day for frame building as our builder ploughed through ours today.

I think our master looks small too but it looked huge in the display. Keep telling myself it'll be fine.
