Another week on the frames which look like it's almost done



Can't wait to see some windows being delivered and for roofing to start. Both SM and CSC have gone silent on us since Anzac Day so hope things are still on track

How long as it taken so far?

Overall our timeline has been:
Jan 16 - initial deposit paid
May 16 - rough plans drawn up, contract signed
Nov 16 - attended Studio M sessions, variations finalised, Council approval and demo
Dec 16 - Xmas shutdown
Feb 17 - retaining wall completed (non-M work)
Mar 17 - mostly rain so no work
April 17 - slab down (took around 3 days)
May 17 - frames (2 weeks at the moment)

It's probably snail's pace compared to Dulie's build..haha

Sorry for the slow reply. Been super busy with work and trying to bl@@dy finalized the plan to lock in a start date with M.

Our dates are looking similar to yours. We signed up end of June 2016.

Good luck Renman! You need to check the plans really thoroughly cause M seem to rely on us to help them pick up mistakes

Don't do it!!!!

Sorry to put a dampener of your build, but if i could go back to pre contract I'd advise myself to pull out and find another builder. M were good and made good houses but they've taken on too many jobs, don't have the staff to manage the work load and have let quality go out the window. They've had so many builds go bad, delayed, the waste on my site is crazy, and I know I'm still paying for it even if it is a fix price contract.

I'd like to say mines is a one off but hearing of too many M jobs going bad, even my landscape has said he's not going to schedule me in until I've actually had handover because he's been burnt on Metricon home jobs.

On my job it's down to us to tell the trades what they are meant to be doing because they don't get given instructions that match any of our changes, selections, site specific considerations.

Who needs a site manager or QA when you have clients checking everything.

In our area they seem to building quiet quickly at this stage. A friend is building a Designer series but larger is making great progress with their SM. 9 weeks and they are at bricking stage. There's a good chance that we might be getting the same SM.

We have been very picky and made sure that everything we asked for we got.

If we had extra $300K we would definitely go with a customer builder for sure.

We keep a spreadsheet of changes and we reference it after we get an updated plan from M. I am sure we will leave something out but will do our best to check the plans.

Did you have any situation where things were missed and left out?
