Anyone else find this building lark makes your mood swing like nothing else! I keep telling myself to go with the flow, it doesn't last long!!

Same, But I do enjoy going in and out of my site... thinking where I wants to place things in future. Too many thinking process going on in my head for retaining wall around the left fence and the back fence. There are times I wants to use grey besser blocks like cat_dunc and yvonneh's build ( will take longer and costly to do ) or should I just use treated pine sleepers to save time and $. Researching how best to do go about helps ease waiting for bricks and now bricks layers.

BTW have they finished bricking at your place.

Build Thread : viewtopic.php?=31&t=81624
No they've only just started bricking, 4 days later burbank said they would. I met the brickie team yesterday they were at the site very early, it's the first time I've met any tradies on our site so was nice to talk to them. Had gone very early to look at the slider doors to make sure they had been corrected which they had and the brickies had just turned up (6.15am)

Have an appointment with Kara today to choose another garage door, Burbank has changed their garage door supplier! Also need to speak to her about some changes we need to our kitchen cabinets to incorporate the undercabinet lighting we are getting

Our Acacia build - http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=86619
Hey... still good to know your bricking started I guess. But man, we've had no appointments offered for change in suppliers. Well I went out to the suppliers themselves but not a colour consult.

I asked for the appointment but I need to speak to her about the cabinets too. I'm thinking of choosing a non-wood effect plain colour, the house being built opposite has a lovely garage door which I think would look better than the one we originally chose!

I asked for one once. Didn't get it. Been told that they changed to steel-line. Our is just colour bond colour but I just want the same sectional door type not roller door, which they never responded to.

Let us know how you go with kitchen cabinet colours. I'm pretty sure We've been told it's too late to change (but it's never too late for them to change). What colour is oppsites?

A new garage door supplier! They haven't call me yet about change of garage door supplier. Just as long as we are getting quality product.

They have changed to Deco wood (steel line is the name of the company) from my research they seem comparable. I had thought of going for a plain colour like surfmist but stuck with wood effect just gone for a much darker colour and 'flat line' panels rather than 'slim line' we have also chosen a much darker wood stain for the door to match 'black japan' which I really love. Additionally they are now using taubman paint instead of Haynes, we could have changed our internal paint colours but happy with our choices and we have chosen tiles with the wall colour in mind!
We also wanted to have a strip of cabinet for the overhead cabinets to hide the light, we will be able to do this without a variation fee so happy with that. We didn't change kitchen cabinets at all in any way we just needed a strip to hide the undercounter lights.

ooo.. nice work. I managed to squeeze in a colour consult too, for eng timber flooring selections... Today. lol will probably just miss you at Oran Park then.
For the under cabinet strip lighting, Did you get a separate power connection hidden inside the cabinets? Wanted to do this too, but we didn't get a extra power added...

I think we have a separate switch yes but not completely sure! The whole electrical appointment blew my mind a bit!!
Btw just had a letter from Burbank telling us to keep out of the site.

Good that you manage to change into colour you wanted. About the under counter lights... we also wanted to add but due to kitchen window splash back there was no space to have continue light strip so we decided to drop it. Can't wait to see your kitchen with these lights on.

O_O wow. and I was just about to PM you to see if I could come around to have a look since I'll be at Oran Park LOL !

Any idea what would have triggered that letter? I mean, you just a friendly chat with the brickies.

If you wants to turn on that strip light on its own.... yes you do need to have separate switch.
My hubby wanted to add light strip under Island bench with switch on the side of waterfall... I put a stop as I don't like to have a hole cut into the stone.

Did Burbank's people see you going in? I have to be careful in future... I have not notice any other Burbank build in my suburb so chances of me getting caught on the site is minimal if I stick to after hour working time.

We went to check the sliders to make sure these had been changed, hubby went on Tuesday night and told me about a damaged handle, I went back early yesterday morning and took this pic it has obviously scraped on the ground at some point. Hubby texted the pic to our SS and this could only have been taken if we were on the site. The fact that he has not replied to the text and that the SS was copied into the email says it all.
I sent a curt email back saying we would not access the site but that we knew our plans extremely well and we would continue to let them know of any errors or mistakes made and expect them to be rectified. I got a one word email in reply -'thanks'
Trust between us I think is at an all time low.

Btw I have a gut feeling Burbank reads posts on the homeone forum. No proof but it's just a feeling I have.

Our Acacia build - http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=86619
Glad I choose not to build with them if that's their attitude. I understand not wanting you on site for safety reasons, but if your raising issues.... they could even just be a bit more polite about it, "we know you've been on site, please note we prefer clients not to enter the site for their own safety. Blah blah"

My builder is never bothered by me being on site, and they know all about it because I tell them when I'm planning to be there.

Shame about the door handle, they have the fix that.
I don't know if my builder reads my thread regularly but I know they have at least seen some of it so I'm careful to not post photos that I couldn't have gotten from outside the fence. Our current SS clearly assumes we go in all the time, he asks if we've checked stuff, but we haven't admitted to anything. I did ask permission to put some noggins in this weekend which he was cool with and told us to help our selves to the screws the framers have left everywhere.

Surely they know a letter won't change much, they're just covering their butts

I reckon I've gone through the EXACT problem and is stated in my thread too. Good on ya for putting your foot down. I have said the same thing too about having incorrect things fixed. I can certainly understand the SS gets frustrated having to deal with multiple site/customers, trade/delivery/invoicing scheduling... BUT as clients we are entitled to the correct items as per contract, the items in a new undamaged state and home built compliant to the BCA/NCC. As others have said, pointing things out at a early stage would probably HELP them do their jobs. Trust goes both ways, they should be saying Thank you for pointing it out and providing a reference point when the problem occurred.
Wanted to take some pics today on my way to the hairdresser but the brickies were all there working! Never seen tradies at our site in a weekend before. I have been a bit worried about the sorbetto brick colour but seeing it going up I absolutely love it.
