A & E's House! Pg 85 - a year or 2 worth of updates 11/12/14

Hi Erin,

Just had a look through this thread; amazing work as usual
Just FYI my parents have an ornamental grape vine at the front of their home and it is great. Does make a small amount of mess when it flowers (green pollen-type stuff everywhere) and then in autumn when it drops all of its leaves. But on the upside no messy fruit on the ground.

One quick question; I remember some time ago Aaron installed some Lack shelves (the ikea ones) in your family room that you used to store DVDs. Have tried to find the pictures on your other thread to not avail! Anyway, I have now bought the same shelves and just wanted to know; how did you fix them to the wall? (into the studs, only to the plaster etc) They say they only have a load capacity of 5 kilos if not fixed to studs and that's not much at all. I'm just a bit worried about the shelves falling off the wall as, with the spacing on the brackets, I could only ever fix one row of screws to a stud!

Thanks in advance
Hey grom

during construction we put in extra noggins, knowing where we'd put the shelves...

I've been trying to find a photo, but cant find a close up... here's one with the wall in the distance... in the very far corner

Thanks for that Erin. Unfortunately I'm not organised enough to have thought of putting in extra noggins at construction; and it's too late now. Hmmmm, maybe they'll be ok anyway........
Anything new happened in your home? Hope all is going well

PS. I did bronze fig in theatre room (more of a lounge) and i love it!!!
Yep, lots happening
I've started a new thread... I'm a bit all over the place

Hopefully my threads are now merged together... all in the one space now!
We had our 12 month inspection this morning... happy to report there were only a handful of really minor issues

Two popped nails in the garage, a scratch along the bottom of our sliding door due to a nail in the cavity, a few screws to be tightened on a door... a tiny crack on the ceiling of the ensuite. That's about it

So happy!
Erin good to hear only minor things.

We haven't even thought about a 12mth inspection. Is this standard for every builder?

It is for Henley. I know other builders offer a 3 month & 12 month, or only 3 month.

They called us a month ago to organise, glad they did, as I would have forgotten
Ah no worries. Thanks.
Glad it all went well!

Hows the feature wall going? I told Aaron today that you'll run out of walls to paint soon

One spare room is complete... just deciding what colour to do the second spare room. Need a warm colour, as the windows face south... Have narrowed it down to few... hoping to get the paint on the weekend

Hi guys

Pool room flooring has most definitely lived up to my expectations! Love it! I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but we wanted something unique for our pool room

It's been a looooooooooooooong wait, but here goes...

BEFORE (12 months of living with this concrete - at least it was sealed, so no dust)

Plan to paint another spare room today
Pics to come a little later. Off to look at the pool room again
Love it Erin! I wasn't sure if I would love it, but yes, it looks fab, and really suits the space.

Well done!!! You have such a knack of decorating
