Our Custom Hamptons Inspired Home - We are in!!!

So based on the above we've gone with the following:

- 300 x 600 grey lapparto porcelain tiles to the floor and shower walls (shower tiled to ceiling)
- 100 x 300 white gloss tiles to the walls layed brickbond to half height
- Shaker cabinets in Oyster Grey satin finish
- Stone bench tops in Organic white
- Semi inset basins with side mixer taps

OUR SELECTIONS FOR ENSUITE & POWDER ROOMS:

I'm thinking of changing the size of the wall tiles to something a bit smaller 100 x 300 is not exactly a traditional size for a subway tile and might look too big.

Also the tile consultant advised us not to get a border/capping tile for the walls as apparently different companies make these and it is very hard to match the shade of white to subway tiles. Perhaps our tile company doesn't have a supplier that makes both. Does anyone know if you can get matching capping tiles? Really want a capping tile as all the pics on Pinterest show this.

Hey guys, finally got my pics together and would like to share our bathroom choices. Might also need some advice again so thank you in advance!

After trawling Pinterest for beautiful Hamptons style bathrooms, I was drawn to examples with non white cabinets and thought it would be nice to have a point of difference between the cabinetry in the main wet areas and the white cabinets in the kitchen.

OUR BATHROOM INSPO:

I also love traditional subway tiles and was drawn to images with walls tiles half way. I do love a fully tiled bathroom though and was warned off going half height tiling by an interior decorator who reckons it's outdated! But I'm still thinking of going half height nonetheless.

Especially love the pic below with its darker walls. Really contrasts with the white subway tiles.

Yes yes yes to the grey cabinets!!!! I considered these for my bathroom too but in the end went with grey patterned floor tiles so left everything else white. I love your choices Dani❤️❤️ I didn't tile to ceiling either not only for budget reasons but also because I like the contrast of the white tiles with the grey wall. I really can't wait to see your ideas come to life!!!!!

As for our laundry and the bathroom upstairs, we decided to save a bit of $$$ and go with less extravagant options. I figure no one is really going to see these anyway and wanted something a little different, more relaxed. We'll still have same basins/tapware for consistency.

Bath upstairs will be a Caroma 1800 free standing bath to wall model. Apparently these are easier to clean around than fully free standing models (no dust behind those hard to read corners)! We had the 'cube' model selected but I've just seen a new model called 'aura' which is a bit softer/ curvier.

OUR BATHROOM & LAUNDRY CHOICES:

- Same floor and wall tiles above
- Flush panel Polar white cabinets
- Laminate bench tops in Elegant Oak

Caroma Aura 1800:

Love it all
. What about for the capping time if you can't get one that matches, use one that contrasts instead like in that last pic? Then instead of "oh we couldn't find one to match exactly" it would be "hey it's a deliberate different colour"!

Wow! Looks great Steph. I second Hillsbuilds; love all the gables also! Wish we could have had more but our developer would not allow it.

Spanish Olive is a lovely colour as well. Get in touch with New Home Visuals to add some colour for you. For a very small price you can just send them your 3D images and colour choices and they will mock it up for you. Plus you get two free revisions if you change your mind. Found it really worthwhile to help visualise.

Our developer made us tone down our facade too. We had to remove quite a few window bars to get our approval which was disappointing. They said it was "too traditional" looking.

Yes we are going pearl grey ensuite cabinets and white subway tiles up the wall.

I do like the half way look in those sample pics. I don't think it is outdated, it's a classic look so it shouldn't date. I think the Hamptons look in general won't date. It is timeless.

That's so disappointing. What's wrong with a bit of variety? These developers need to watch Grand Designs!

Yeah it was a strange thing to be picky about. They want the whole estate to look modern and similar colours.

Ooh grey patterned floor tiles sounds interesting! Got any pics yet?

So good to hear someone else doing the half height thing. And yes love the contrast too and the less impact on the hip pocket LOL. Think it's just a softer finish whereas fully tiled whilst stunning feels very cold to me.

Hmm, is this what you mean? It's quite a statement!

The other option I've seen is to have a painted timber trim instead, but maybe too much high maintenance...

Ooh, I quite like that contrast! Either way, be sure to dust that ledge

How 'old' is your estate? Ours is a few years old, so when they put together the estate guidelines, the Hamptons resurgence hadn't happened yet. So the guidelines are all about modern, contemporary designs. That's what been approved and built to date and they don't want to deviate from it. Our facade was initially rejected flat out until I supplied some actual photos and could demonstrate it had a modern edge to it. Very stressful and upsetting when you have your heart set on something

Yes I couldn't help myself. Because the kitchen is so neutral with the white on white I needed to add my flair to something & the patterned tiles were my statement! I left them grey so it's not too crazy and out of place in fact I think it works really nicely with the rest of the house. Obviously not finished yet, can't wait to see it with the grout so the lines aren't so prominent but here it is...

By the way the walls look a lot more beiger in this pic than they do in real life they are much more grey

By the way my stone went in yesterday I'm so happy with it!! Every time I saw the little brown sample I second guessed myself and got paranoid it would be way to brown but it turned out just like I hoped!! The samples are so deceiving aren't they. I wouldn't even have considered bianco drift had I not seen it on a benchtop. I didn't even pick up the sample in the tile shop.

Thank you Dani_J I will definitely get onto that today

I love all of your bathroom choices so far, they will look so great once all put together!

magavin your benchtops look so great! The brown is so subtle you barely notice it! Samples are definitely deceiving! We are very lucky that our chosen builder is on board with our look. The plans are going to council in the next week so that will be interesting!
The stone cladding with that timber looks amazing on your porch!

Thanks martinsharmony! I've been itching for the grout to go on so I could show you
My wall colour is Dulux Vanilla Quake. It's delicious just like it's name

OMG Magavin! How good does your bathroom look!!! I
those tiles!! They make such an awesome feature. Good on you for such a bold choice. I love your wall colour also. Adding this to my list! ☺

And your stone is also fantastic. That's the Bianco Drift, yes? I don't know why you were worried about it being a bit brown, it is definitely grey, and a lovely shade at that. Thanks so much for sharing and keep those pics coming!
