Electricity at two properties?

This will sound stupid, but how do you have two electricity accounts with the same provider?

We will be moving into our new place some time in January but will then be selling our current place, so we need power in both. How do we do this?

We just want to move our existing account to our new place, but don't want to have to a "new" connection to either, as this costs a bit.
