Our Slab due to be poured Monday.

This is the last pics of our slab I took but there is more progress with the plastic down and wood sides to the slab frame up and mesh all down etc. Just due to pour Monday and we have a slab.
Our slab is high due to ahd flood levels 100yr something. It feels so exciting now we are on our way. Cant wait to see it done.

Now Im pretty shocking at posting pics, but see how we go.

Also any idea why the garage pods are so much smaller and different shaped to the rest of the home?
Hmm a lot of 'conc' to go in there
.
The garage will be lower.
Is this a multi level build?
No, it's just because our council required a certain height due to possibility of flood and not sure why the footings are like that. The concreter thought it ridiculous but not sure if it's due to soil condition but it wasn't a fill block. There's no rio mesh in the footings there in that pic.
Interesting preslab....with the amount of water around here I think we should have done that for ours!
Heres our latest slab photos, they poured the slab today this morning!!!

Our builder rang today to let us know there will be more costs due to the extra concrete used for the footings, any idea how much? He will let us know tomorrow.
Also we should be in by mid to late September so 18-20 weeks he said. They give longer around November but he doubts it will be that long.

When our builder rang he said it could cost up to $15k more.

It certainly looks like there was a lot of concrete (as onc said)

Maybe $3-4k more? (really rough guess)
I would be asking why they are telling you this now.
They should have been able to work out a lot of this by looking at the plans.
Ok if it in only a couple K variation far enough. However if they are asking 10's of thousand then I dont think that would be far.
Thanks, I will tell you later how much.
Meanwhile today they have started on the frames already. Is this ok for the slab? Guessing so or they wouldn't do it. I'm happy to see things rapidly progressing.
1 day for cure

Plenty of meat in that slab.
I will also be interested in the 'extras'.
The builders get paid for each stage... looks like they are going for a record 2 stages in a week.

I just hope they don't Dyna bolt and use chemset instead.

The garage is all framed up now too, I think mostly the framing is either done or mostly done. There was some big overhang over the alfresco area, one side too much concrete and the other side the frame overhangs, our builder is getting this fixed asap and said its due to the high slab putting pressure on the boxing and moving, this looks to be the case when you look at it. It will be concreted boxed again and rods put through the concrete or something like that he said.
Im just glad its being fixed and hopefully it will work.
They look to have chemset the frames and there are some nails as well in the frames on the slab where its overhanging.
Wow it really feels like a house now the frames are distinguishing the rooms and you get some idea how big the rooms are. Just love the house. The garage is massive. It wont be used to house a garage though as we have the garage shed next to the house as you can see in the pics. It will be an office and gym.
The extra cost for the slab was just over $5000. Apparently concrete here in Echuca is twice the price than elsewhere.

My apologies for removing my photos but I felt uncomfortable that when I googled images my pictures come up for ellington, so I removed them as it feels too personal to have them out there for all sorts of people to see. iykwim. Trust issues, lol.

General Discussion

The concreter will take and reuse. In my case I bought structural LVLs and scraped them back and used them as joists.
