Heating for LPG

Anyone have ideas on heating options for LPG use. We are building on acreage and atm have gas ducted heating in our plans but aren’t connected to mains gas.. really want some ideas on more cost effective heating before we sign our contracts
TIA

We are rural too and rejected gas early in the process in favour of electricity. That said, friends of ours use gas on an isolated property to fire a hydronic boiler. The gas company leases them one of those large tanks that you might typically see at a service station and it is filled on a schedule. Not sure what happens if they want to change supply in the future.

So what do you have heating wise?

Electric powered air-to-water heat exchangers (air-source heat pumps) for in-slab hydronic heating. Not cheap to install, but we will be able to generate our own electricity in the future but never be able to supply our own gas.

I really can't imagine LPG ducted heating (that is, directly burning gas to heat air) would be practical and sustainable into the future. Have you considered ducted reverse cycle aircon with solar panels and batteries?
LPG is the most expensive form of heating I have come across.

Some years ago we rented a house with LPG heating. After one winter we went to the landlord and offered to pay half to convert to reverse cycle air conditioning.

Probably paid back our half in two years. Since then gas has gone up and reverse cycle efficiency has improved so there is no way I would be using LPG for a new house.

A couple of years ago I did a comparison just for cooking at anewhouse.com.au which shows an induction hob is a better choice, especially if you have got solar panels on the roof
