The Monster

The house Im buying has these monstera deliciosa at the front of the house at the top of the front lawn.

Building inspector suggested I get rid of these as the roots are very damaging, shame cause I like the looks of them.

There are also a few of these type of ferns - image below - among them....

....anyone have any suggestions what might be a good replacement for the monsters, something that isnt out of control, not damaging and looks appealing
Bloody fishbone fern drives me crazy. Very tough to eradicate. Dig it out and remove as many of the little balls they shoot from. Wait till they reshoot and dig out again. As for the monsteria having destructive roots??? They rely on aerial roots for support and the generally aren't a problem. Established plants can be worth something. Cut it up into smaller plants and sell them at a swap meet
$$$ I'd leave it. But I'm no building inspector, just a good horticulturist.
