White pebbles or white gravel?

Hi All

Am looking at using white pebbles in our 'low maintenance drought resistant' garden we are designing. Which pebbles in your opinion look/work better - the gravel look or medium or large white pebbles. The gravel is about half the price but we are willing to pay more if the pebbles will look better. I look forward to your opinions!?

It depends on the type of garden you will have.
If you have a formal looking garden with a bit of space between the plants, then the pebbles will stand out and look good.
If you have a more bushy garden where the ground is not really a feature piece then go for the cheaper gravel.

We went with the larger pebbles (river pebbles?) and I think they are great:

Matt - that does look good
Thanks! Although I nearly had a heart attack at the price they do look good......probably worth it.
no they are not cheap
What do they normally cost anyway? I couldn't find any locally where I am and then my bro said a mate with a farm was selling pebbles from a site on his farm and he brought me one cubic metre for $150. plus a couple wheel barrow loads of larger football and smaller ones to do a riverbed look. I think he got mates rates.... Did I get a good deal?
Oh and Briz ms if you can afford it..go with the pebbles, they do look much better.
Briz, just for another idea, here are my 20mm quartz pebbles between the pavers and white river rocks (that contain a few other colours too) in the garden.

Thanks guys - the large pebbles are $29 per 20kg bag retail cost and it takes about 3 bags to cover 1m2. I found a wholesaler who can do a deal for $12.50 a bag. The gravel is more like $150 per m3.
