GM crops and products.

The back yard gardener mostly grows veggies so to avoid most of the nasties used in commercial agriculture. We are finally getting back on the path of better farming techniques

GM commercial crops are a shifty area indeed. If we think that control of computers etc holds some power in the world then imagine controlling the food!

You may not say no to GM crops, plants or the concept but with some thought to the matter I can only hope our population does not accept the control of our food supplies by one or two global corporations.

any chance you get, I ask that you consider signing petitions against this or offer your support against it.

Even well known gardener and Hort, Pete Cundall is behind this as are many well know names in the horticultural industry and the agricultural industry as well as conservationists.

Here is an article on a local protest against GM that occured here in Perth today and it was great to see Pete a part of it

*(please delete if mods think it is political instead of garden related but we grow our own veggies because we can, not because a company tells us what we will grow)
Did you see the ABC documentary "Seed Hunter"?

http://www.abc.net.au/tv/documentaries/ ... 391502.htm and it's available on ABC iview if you want to watch it again.

Was a fascinating documentary and highlighted the importance of genetic diversity in agriculture and the impacts of mono-cultures promoted by well meaning Quango's....God I sound like a Greenie....
...I gotta go concrete something...

Good post FMC.

Say no to creating yet another generation of resistant pests and limited plant types.

Why

Because the companies only look at the bottom line of their company - not the big picture.

Smoking used to be something that was promoted as being good for you - what the!!!

Yet now there is a massive push into asia - but the west already knows that is is a dangerous pastime.

Steve
yeah yak. It seems from a simple perspective that as we overcome the propaganda of fertilizer companies over the last 70 years and more, that we are now faced with this even bigger monster.
Thank god for diggers.
