Don't even mention our retaining wall as it alone costs us $30k (biggest component) of our Landscape budget....

We are looking at materials and the like for retaining walls at our place. We have about 1.2m high to retain in front our bedroom windows (at the front of the house) and about 1.4m high required along the side boundary (30mtrs long) and across the back of our house.
At this stage we are looking at http://www.quickstone.com.au
Each block weighs between 500-700kg so once in place it won't be going anywhere. And it also means we wouldn't need a concrete footing as it uses crushed and compacted road base type stuff.
We do have close to two pallets of bricks left over so we are considering using them to do the front retaining and then having a go at rendering ourselves
