2pac or laminate

Speaking with a cabinet salesperson today they mentioned that laminex is much better than 2pac, even though 2pac is dearer. It will outsurvive the 2pac. I know that 2pac is susceptible to scratches, etc but never knew that laminate is superior.

Is this true?
The internals of both doors are the same they are both MDF doors, so no difference there. Laminate is less likely to scratch than polyurethane but having said that i have had it for 12 years and with boys driving cars all over it its all okay. If you do have light scratches you can just use car polish to bring them back to new we have done it once, or with bigger scratches you could always just get it repainted.
Laminate has seperate edging that is put on using a machine but you always see a glue line around the door, and there is a chance that the edge peels off but nowadays materials used and machines do a good job.
Laminate is generally a lot cheaper and quicker to make and has the advantage of not just using solid colours but you can choose woodgrains and patterns.
So thats the real difference is only the price. If you have limited budget spend your money on getting a stone benchtop instead of laminate benchtop big difference there.
Laminate is most defiantly NOT superior to 2pac!

Laminate is one of the cheapest door finishes around. You will see a faint black line around the 1mm edging. It cant be repaired and if the colour is no longer made you out of luck if you ever need to replace a door.

2pac is available in any colour and any finish. It can be flat or one of hundreds of profiles, it can be repaired and resprayed with ease at any stage of the kitchens life!

Laminate is not a bad product, infact its actually quite good. The sales person is telling you laminate is better is saying that because is quicker and easier for them to produce a kitchen with laminate. Its nothing to do with the product is about there bottom line!
