Timber screen fixings

Hi All, Want to build a vertical timber screen at home (merbau 42 x 19’s) Plan was to screw the battens to the joists. However, interested to know if the joists should be screwed or nailed to the posts? Interested in thought & opinions. Thanks

A screw fixing is always better, less chance of movement

Thanks Tim65, that was my expectation, I was concerned that rafter to post was meant to allow movement

Big screws or gal bolts! It's probably going to weigh a fair bit!
Thanks, good point about the weight. Thinking coach screws might do the trick! Plan is 3 horizontal joists, 2.4 m vertical battens, 4.8 m wide screen. Can’t wait to give this a crack
