It's unfortunate that most are not aware that your sales persons pitch and advise is extremely floored with heavy biast towards their own pockets and it's very common that they Said this and that ,but u will get only what your entitled to if your aware of your rights and u enforce it with knowledge and that they know this.
Lots in this forum started just like yourself and through education and experience have learned a much more likely pleasing building experience.
I would read similar stories from this forum which will take you from trusting customer to knowledgeable building consumer,good luck
