Fencing Restrictions in Land Contract

Hi, I’m hoping someone has been in the same situation and can help. Our land contract says we need timber lapped and capped fencing but other people in our street are using colourbond fencing. Our neighbour wants to use colourbond fencing. If our DA doesn’t mention fencing can we use colourbond? Who would impose this rule? Thank you
