If possible a way top cut costs is to get the builder to wire sockets at each lighting point that way you can cut holes and connect them without an electrician.

Our house isn't built yet, but our portico will be approx 2.5m x 2.4m. We put one down light and then one light on each pillar (2 pillars), and a fog light on the garage.
