We just upgraded all our lighting with 70mm halogens in brushed chrome from bunnings for $14.95 a piece (with transformer and globe) and I bought box of 6 heat cans for $15.

We have the brightgreens in both living and task areas and are happy with them. Mind you we have never had downlights so don't really have anything to compare to.
