Do downlights need to line up?

I'm pretty sure ours aren't lined up in various spots and I don't notice at all. I think as they are flush with the ceiling they are a bit camoflauged.

Not a big fan of downlights. I feel like if you wanted to remove them later there would be so much repair work to do. More inclined towards a singular chandelier style fitting.

Our house isn't built yet, but our portico will be approx 2.5m x 2.4m. We put one down light and then one light on each pillar (2 pillars), and a fog light on the garage.
