How much & how difficult is it to put panels on doors?

Not sure what a chippie woud charge - probably do it as a cash job. Make it easier and paint them first, ensuring the bottom of the door is coated to avoid moisture uptake.

A mulit-point lock is more secure and by far better than a single dead bolt, especially with timber. The picture shows the lock for the 2nd door sash as well
