We didnt have a pivot door for our large single door. Just used a very very strong door hinges to hold a solid jarrah door approx. 8ft tall, and I cant remember the exact width.

I agree with Ed. I'd most likely go with white, but remember that this will make a feature of the windows from the outside so hopefully your design can handle this.
