the concrete footing will be 1/2 way in existing soil, (digging out 150mm approx) we will be backfilling to the concrete with clay type soil. Good question by the way.

would not recommend classicstone, riverstone or most wet press pavers. Try Urbanstone, they have just had a price reduction. Natural stone is generally cheaper than man made
