I think go in between on both floor and wall. Nothing is worse than cheap tiles. They crack easily, they simply dont have the look of a better tile. Cheap looks cheap. …

Yes take the vent advice, it will cause problems if you don't like water not filling properly in the toilet etc. Not a plumber by any means but have seen the problem…

You can't go too far wrong with white and if you're worried about dating, be careful of border tiles. Tiles of the same size but a different colour may work as a feature.…

can't you use full tiles and then put the cabinet over the top? We're putting full tiles around the edge of the cabinet and leaving the big space behind the cabinet as bare wall.
